R.I.P Little Woodpecker...

I am soooo sorry, Little Woodpecker...

I am so sorry you died just because you were too young and inexperienced to realise you can't fly through glass, even though it looks like you should be able to...

I am so sorry that because of this thing I live in, your life had to end so soon...

Sleep tight, Little Woodpecker...

So here you are, lying there, on the pavers in front of my backdoor, like all you are doing is taking a nap in a somewhat unusual place...
You look so peaceful...
You just needed a rest from being out in the world, learning about all these new things to survive, to live...
So you stopped, laid your head down and fell asleep... just for a minute... catching your breath...

This world suffers so much from our presence.
We spread like a virus, conquering and destroying anything that dares to stand in our way.
Or just because we don't see a use for it, or don't like what it is...

We abuse all this world has to offer, as if it was ours in the first place.
Like we are the only species on this planet who have the right to play 'God' and will do so no matter how much destruction we cause to the only  thing we have that can keep us alive: Planet Earth.

We build all we need and to do so we take what we want without thinking of the consequences.
We leave scars wherever we go and even completely eliminate aspects of this world and its lifeforms, just so we can have what we want, when we want and how we want it...

One day this arrogance will cause us to self-destruct.

We either use up all the resources, destroy the ones we can't control or just plainly kill each other with some conjured up weapon of mass-destruction.

But our egos keep thinking that that  will never  happen, so we just keep on causing mayhem, leaving suffering, death and extinction in our wake...

I hope one day Human Kind will live up to its name and be humane  and kind  enough to stop what we are doing and make this planet and all it is our priority, even if that means we have to remove ourselves from it for it to be able to exist in whatever state we eventually leave it in.

Because it will  repair itself, because that is what it is programmed to do: evolve and survive: The Circle of Life.
It will just take back what we so disrespectfully took to make our own.
And before you know it, it will look like we have never been here, we never even existed, and all will be well again...

That is of course, unless some power-hungry 'individual' full of hatred and disregard for life of any kind (apart from his own, of course) couldn't just stop himself from "pushing that button" and destroy the planet completely...

The things we are capable off...
We should be exterminated, like the vermin are...
We ARE  the biggest threat on this planet, to  this planet.

So  I am  sorry Little Woodpecker, you had to come across these unnatural things we  saw fit to create.

And I am  sorry you died because I am alive...

Rest In Peace, Little Woodpecker...

Your life has never been in vain.

And now it rains...

The Heavens are crying...
